Opera Orlando holds a six-day summer intensive for high school and undergraduate college students looking to learn what it takes to be a professional singer each summer. With instruction and direction from Opera Orlando staff and teaching artists, students receive coachings on solo repertoire, participate in masterclasses with industry professionals, hone their resume-writing skills, and have discussions with artists who are in the field, as well as college professors and students who are currently going through the process of pursuing a degree in music. There is a focus on wellness and movement with yoga classes, vocal health seminars, and vocal anatomy sessions. Students also have the opportunity to take new headshots and perform in a showcase concert that will be recorded.
Early auditions and acceptance runs through April 30, at which time the cost of the program increases from $375 to $450 (scholarships are available). To audition, please complete the application form HERE and submit a video recording of yourself singing an art song, aria, or musical theatre number to education director Sarah Purser, SPurser@OperaOrlando.org.
