"Boisterous Beginnings" set the stage for Opera Orlando

"A Boisterous Rebirth for Opera in Orlando" demands some "Boisterous Beginnings!" The newly renamed Opera Orlando (formerly Florida Opera Theatre) has just that in mind.

Leading up to the April 22, 23, 24 Dr. Phillips Center performances ofThe Impresario and Les Mamelles de Tirésias the company has created seven different presentations designed to enhance the enjoyment of the operas.

All but one is free and reflects a new organizational mission to honor and represent the operatic art form throughout the year.

 

Boisterous Beginnings!

1) Saturday, March 26 at 11 am- Winter Park Farmers' Market in Orlando More info HERE

"Meet Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Francis Poulenc"

The two great composers of our upcoming operas take in the sights and sounds of Central Florida's premiere farmer's market. There will be opportunities for photographs and autographs. 

 

2) Saturday, March 26 at 2 pm- Orlando Museum of Art, 2416 N Mills Ave, Orlando (omart.org)

"Meeting of Musical Minds"

Remarkably, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) and Francis Poulenc (1899-1963) are joined by John Wettach, President of the Board of Directors for Opera Orlando, for a roundtable discussion about music, art and philosophy... ancient and modern. Includes recorded musical excerpts. Free and open to the public

 

 3) Saturday, April 9 at 1 pm- 300 West Plant Street in Winter Garden (springfeveringarden.com)

"Spring Fever in the Garden"

The Opera Orlando Children's Chorus performs for the Bloom and Grow Garden Society's annual seasonal celebration with a tip of the "choral" hat to our "Boisterous Rebirth for Opera in Orlando. Free and open to the public

 

 4) Saturday, April 9 at 7:30 pm (doors open at 7 pm) - Timucua White House, 2000 South Summerlin, Orlando (timucua.com)

 "Stars of Opera Orlando"

The principal performers of Opera Orlando's double bill of Mozart and Poulenc: sopranos Julia Foster and Bridgette Gan; tenor Alex Mansoori; and baritones Gabriel Preisser and Hadleigh Adams and bass-baritone Andrew Emery share their vocal talents in this intimate venue. Tickets: $15 available at the door

 

5) Friday, April 15 at 6 pm- Pilars Martini Bar, 146 W Plant St #120, Winter Garden (pilarsmartini.com)

SPECIAL EDITION! "Meeting of Musical Minds" - abridged with live music

Once again Mozart, Poulenc and Wettach discuss opera and the times they have all lived in. A briefer conversation is made all the more profound by live performances from the cast of "A Boisterous Rebirth for Opera in Orlando" Free and open to the public
