The Opera Orlando Youth Program is an all-inclusive singer/actor training program that focuses on developing the young singer/actor. The program caters to young singers who are interested in Classical Music, Opera, and Musical Theatre. Singers will have the opportunity to explore their artistic creativity, practice performing, and develop healthy vocal habits.

YOUTH PROGRAMS STAFF
Robin Jensen, Director of Youth Programs
Robin Jensen is the founding director of The Florida Opera Theatre Youth Programs. During her four year tenure, the Youth choruses have performed with the Orlando Philharmonic’s productions of “Home For The Holidays”, “Midsummer Night’s Dream”, “Barber of Seville”,“Mahler Symphony #3” and “Tosca”. For the Florida Opera Theatre, Robin has developed an intensive singing/acting program for young singers ages 7 to 18. She is currently Artistic Director for a new program for Middle School students “Build An Opera” where the singers are involved with writing and creating their own “opera” work.
Robin is currently the Instructor of Collaborative Piano/Vocal Arts and the Music Director forthe opera workshop program at the University of Central Florida. She isCo-Director of the UCF/FOT Summer Opera Institute and has over 30 years experience as a conductor, music director, stage director and teacher. She has been a vocal coach, chorus master and children’s chorus master for many Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra musical and opera productions.
Robin has worked with such companies as Minnesota Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera and Opera IOWA where she developed the educational opera company and created their first outreach opera workshops. During her tenure with theOrlando Opera, Robin served as a conductor, assistant conductor and stage director for many opera productions and held the title of Director of Music Administration and Education. She was also instrumental in the development of the Resident Artist and founded their Youth Programs.
Robin was a vocal coach with the University of Vermont, Ithaca College, Cornell University and Rollins College. She has presented Singing/Acting master classes for colleges and universities across the country, as well as performed as a collaborative pianist for recitals and other performances. She has been a Music Director for many theaters including MadCow Theatre here in Orlando.
Since 1999, Robin has been Artistic Director for “Camp Madhatter” a summer intensive music drama camp in Minnesota. Each year the Camp focuses on a different theatrical theme from which a two week curriculum is created.
Robin holds a BM and a MM in Piano Performance from Drake University with additional collaborative piano studies from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She received the prestigious Martha Ellen Tye scholarship for collaborative piano study at the American Institute of Music in Graz, Austria. She believes in creating a safe non judgmental environment where singers may grow into artists.
Amado Bobadilla, Vocal Improvisation/Composer
Amado Bobadilla has a BA in music performance from Rollins College, Amado has worked in the Central Florida arts community for the past 21 years as a musical director, accompanist and educator. He has been a company pianist for the Orlando Ballet and accompanies for the Rollins College and Florida Hospital Parkinson’s dance programs. He worked as a music director for Ice House Theatre in Mt. Dora, The Orlando Repertory Theatre and Menopause the Musical and taught and assisted with productions for the New School of Orlando. He has accompanied class for American Ballet Theatre, The School of American Ballet, The Parsons Dance Company, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and the Joffrey, Bolshoi and Kirov ballet schools. He has played master classes for Fernando Bujones, Robert Hill, Gelsey Kirkland, Madame Nathalie Krassovska, Raymond Lukens (ABT National Training Curriculum), Bruce Marks, Diedre Miles Burger, Linda Maybarduk, Olivier Pardina, David Parsons, Ellie Potts Barrett, Marianna Tcherkassky and others.
His original compositions have been performed by Southern Ballet Theatre, the Orlando Opera Children’s Opera Group, and by the Orlando Opera Resident Artists. He teaches for the Yamaha Music School at the Dr. Phillips Center Florida Hospital School of Arts and Wellness and works as an improvisatory musician at SAK Comedy Lab in Orlando.
Timothy Williams, Acting Coach
Timothy Williams received a BA in Theater Arts from the University of Central Florida Theatre. He was a Resident Actor, Associate Artist, and Staff Member at the Orlando Shakespeare Theatre and has also been seen with Mad Cow Theatre, the Vine Theatre, and Empty Spaces Theatre Co. He also co-wrote and directed Farrago at the Orlando International Fringe Festival. Nationally he has performed with the Artist’s Collaborative Theater, the Cape May Stage in New Jersey, and the Alpine Theater Project. Directing credits include Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Winnie the Pooh for the Pied Piper Players; Kafka’s Shorts at the Harriet Lake Festival of New Plays; and The Understudy, Private Lives, Next To Normal, Sunday in the Park With George and Death of a Salesman for Mad Cow Theatre. Timothy has worked outside of theater in commercials, voice-overs and film, and is currently starring in a sit-com pilot called Welcome to Our Mansion and Read Me, an independent film.
