Philanthropist Bryce West will be the honoree at the first Opera Orlando Gala.  Mr. West is being honored for his commitment to opera in Orlando, as well as being a champion for all the arts. The Gala - A Night Among the Stars – will be on Saturday, March 19 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Grand Bohemian Hotel. Opera Orlando will also celebrate its inaugural production, Mozart’s The Impresario and Poulenc's Les Mamelles de Tiresias coming this April 22, 23, and 24.

"Bryce has distinguished himself as a true Renaissance man in the Central Florida arts community," said John Wettach, President of Opera Orlando. "He supports so many groups with generous donations, but just as importantly, he puts in the time and hard work to help them grow and thrive. At Opera Orlando we feel privileged to have Bryce as one of our greatest advisors, supporters and fans. We are thrilled to be able to say a well-deserved, 'thank you,' by honoring Bryce at our first Gala event."

An exciting evening has been planned. "A Night Among the Stars" begins on the rooftop terrace of the Grand Bohemian in the heart of downtown Orlando. There guests will enjoy a picturesque view of the City Beautiful and look down on Opera Orlando's beautiful home venue, the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.

Next, all will pass through the "Hall of Opera" with portraits from past productions in Orlando, and enter the Strauss Banquet Room to once again be "among the stars" - opera stars that is - singing opera's greatest hits, from Carmen to Fledermaus to La Bohème. Performers include soprano Megan Weston, mezzo-soprano, Amanda Crider, tenor Cody Austin and baritone Gabriel Preisser, Opera Orlando's Executive and Artistic Director. They will be joined by renowned concert pianist Michael Fennelly from New York City.

First and foremost, we know how to put on a good show," said Preisser. "For this special event- we're pulling out all the stops. It will be a night to remember."

The evening also includes plentiful appetizers, cocktails, a silent auction, a live auction, a video tribute, and a special musical program dedicated to our guest of honor.
