Opera Orlando is excited to offer In-School Programs designed to engage students and introduce them to the exciting world of Opera. Through this program, students and teachers have three exciting opportunities to explore:

In-School Opera Previews
This program introduces students to one of the season's MainStage productions, taking them through the story line, introducing musical highlights and characters, as well as allowing students the chance to engage with the Studio Artists in a Q&A session. Lesson plans are provided for each production. Students learn about opera through a condensed program of arias and ensembles performed by the company's Studio Artists in the classroom.

Master Classes with Opera Orlando Teaching Artists
Opera Orlando provides you with a teaching artist and an accompanist who will come to your school and work with student singers in a masterclass setting. This is an invaluable opportunity for aspiring singers and can be a wonderful way to help prepare students for upcoming solo and ensemble or Thespian competitions. Students receive immediate and impactful feedback and will learn from their peers as well as the professionals.

Invited Dress Rehearsals for Main Stage Productions: Schools who sign up will receive a special invitation to attend one of the season's final dress rehearsals at Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.

“Last Friday we had the absolute pleasure of hosting Craig Irvin and Julie Tompkins from Opera Orlando at Avalon Middle School. They presented a fabulous and informative program and created positive change in my choral program. More than 200 students were able to enjoy the performance, presentation, and workshop. We are so grateful that they were able to enrich our students! “

- Evan Powers, Choral Director at Avalon Middle School
